GRILLED COURGETTE DOUBLE HAMBURGER

Do Hamburgers actually come from Hamburg?

And Frankfurters from Frankfurt?

And French Fries from France?

And why are Hamburgers called Hamburgers when they are made of beef?

Anyway… these are made with pork and NOT sandwiched between bread… So I suppose they’re not Hamburgers after all..

GRILLED COURGETTE DOUBLE HAMBURGER

Ingredients

  • 4 large Slices of Courgette in 1cm Thick

  • 250 g Ground Pork 15% Fat

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp Onion Powder

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Homemade Ketchup (or low carb bought)

  • 1 tbsp Homemade Mayonnaise (or low carb bought)

  • Salad Leaves

  • Tomato Slices

  • Salt and Pepper

Method

  • Sprinkle salt on each side of the courgette slices (to remove some of the excess moisture) and leave on a rack
  • Put the pork, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper in a bowl.  Mix all together with your hands until combined
  • Form 4 Hamburgers, slightly larger than the diameter of the courgette slice with your hands, and press a slight indentation in the middle. This will keep the burger even shaped when cooking
  • Fry in hot oil for circa 2 Minutes each side
  • Set aside and keep warm
  • Dry off the courgette slices, brush with garlic oil, and fry in a griddle for ca. 4 minutes each side
  • Build your hamburger like this:

  • Secure with a toothpick
